From the 20th of July - 1st of September, The RHS gardens in Wisley will be celebrating 50 years since Eric Carle's beloved children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar was published. There will be a range of fun activities such as storytelling and arts and crafts for families to enjoy.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is an all time favourite book for our children, but as Wisley is a bit far for a school trip, we will be learning about it class in celebration of it’s golden anniversary.
As most of you know, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is an educational book about the life cycle of a butterfly, but it also serves to teach children about change and how we adapt to it, encouraging them to embrace change and promoting resilience. What makes this book so popular is that not only does it communicate this important lesson, it teaches children different colours, days of the week, counting up to five and about different types of food in a simple and creative way which mesmerizes the children.
If you have not read it yet it’s certainly worth a go. We will be following along at nursery!
